JOB DESCRIPTION

As a CG Generalist at Dupe you will be responsible for creating photo-real digital assets/environments to a high visual effects standard.

You should have a range of skills in 3D, including modelling, scene assemblies, texturing, lookdev and shading, layout, lighting, rendering and re-projection.

We will ask you to be creative, analytical and efficient in achieving the creative vision of our clients and VFX supervisors..

You should be keen to learn and share knowledge, playing your part in the team to produce great work in a positive environment. We want you to pay attention to both the aesthetics and the technical aspects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creating models, textures, shading and look development setups
• Layout of assets, FX, animation and lights into a CG scene for rendering
• Troubleshooting technical issues with the CG scene and optimising the renders to work within the resources available
• Working to develop the look of a shot, assets or sequence with the Visual Effects and CG Supervisors
• Identifying the best approach for matching the quality of the plate photography
• Communicating with production on a regular basis in regards to schedules and deadlines
• Working in partnership with other departments to ensure that shots are delivered to the highest possible standard

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

• Previous experience working in a feature film or high end episodic VFX pipeline
• Knowledge of Houdini, Maya and Nuke
• Knowledge of a render engine
• Proven experience with modelling, UV layout, texturing, layout, lighting, rendering,.
• Strong understanding of the entire VFX process with experience of 3D and 2D workflows.
• Generalist background with a good balance between creative and technical skills
• Creative problem solving abilities with keen attention to detail
• Strong aesthetic skills in judging photo-realism, perspective and composition.
• Ability to deliver under pressure and be proactive with good organisational and communication skills

Desirable, but not essential:

• Working knowledge of Houdini, Zbrush, Photoshop, Solaris, Mari, Substance Painter, Arnold, Karma
• Experience working with shoot data including photographic and reference data, HDRIs, photogrammetry and Lidar
• Previous experience with Linux
• VFX scripting (python, vex, etc)

About the role

As a Mid & Senior Compositor at Dupe, you will combine live action, photographic and CG elements into a believable shot. We will ask you to be creative, analytical and efficient in achieving the creative vision of our clients and VFX supervisors. You should ideally be based in/around London or at least living in the UK, keen to learn and share knowledge, playing your part in the team to produce great work in a positive environment. We want you to pay attention to both the aesthetics and the technical aspects.

Responsibilities:

• Assessing your own work on a creative and technical level.
• Taking feedback from your supervisor in a positive and collaborative manner.
• 2D tracking, keying, colour matching, roto and paint.
• Working collaboratively across other departments to achieve the best result most efficiently. 
• Demonstrating an understanding of lighting, photography and perspective.
• Managing your workload and being calm under deadlines.

Skills and Experience:

• 3+ years as a VFX professional using Nuke.
• Relevant degree/training course is a plus.
• Strong aesthetic skills in judging photo-realism, perspective and colour.
• Strong sense of composition, colour and design.
• Experience with Linux.
• Skills in Nuke expressions, gizmos and Python is a plus.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Dupe VFX is looking for creative leaders to join our core team on a permanent basis at our East London Studio. The successful artists will have empathy and passion running through their veins ready to be responsible for stewarding large shows and our small but impactful team. The role will include leadership in helping Dupe grow onto bigger and bolder projects, whilst also maintaining an excellent working environment for our team of superstars.

The  Lead Compositor plays a key role in driving the overall direction of the 2D department in the production of Visual Effects. You will be responsible for the quality control of the compositing work, ensuring that project-specific requirements are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interpreting the creative vision of the VFX Supervisor and providing a clear, consistent, creative brief to the Leads and Artists.
• Supporting the use of consistent department workflows and processes as well as designing more effective workflows.
• Providing concise and constructive feedback and ensuring the Artists are directed to reach milestones & show targets.
• Delivering the highest quality work out of dailies to the VFX Supervisor and building strategies to improve operational efficiency on an ongoing basis, such as designing more effective training, tracking progress, and reporting across all teams.
• Approving work that is ready to progress to the next department.
• Ensuring work is delivered according to the Show schedule.
• Communicating with all departments to manage dependencies.
• Explaining the work and requirements of their show to the HoDs to ensure they can provide the best possible team for the work.
• Day-to-day oversight of the Show supervision team.
• Resolving conflicts of workflow approach between the teams/shows.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 8 years of professional VFX experience in Commercials/Film and/or Episodic realms
• Previous experience as a Leading 2D or Sequence Supervisor on a minimum of three high-end feature films
• An excellent creative eye and aesthetic judgement
• Ability to sell creative solutions and ideas to the VFX Supervisors
• Ability to reduce complex problems to their most simple solutions
• Thorough understanding of the complete VFX pipeline
• Highly organised proven team leader with strong motivational skills
• Proactive and an excellent communicator
• Empathy and passion running through your veins

JOB DESCRIPTION

Dupe VFX is looking for an experienced Production Coordinator to join the growing Dupe team across a variety of high-profile film and TV projects. At Dupe the Production Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the VFX production team by facilitating communication, tracking progress, and ensuring the timely delivery of the awarded work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Good understanding of a show's overall schedule and life-cycle.
• Strong knowledge of the VFX pipeline, its dependencies, and the interactions between each department.
• Taking responsibility for managing internal administrative tasks and paperwork related to projects.
• Joint responsibility for overseeing and managing internal schedules in alignment with the show's needs, utilising Ftrack.
• Having a strong understanding of bid days/tasks, and taking responsibility for reporting the progression of shots, assets, and other creative work to the production team. This includes leading internal activities such as dailies, rounds, and Cinesync sessions.
• As the internal point of contact for production, effectively coordinate with assistants, leads (or VFX supervisors), editorial staff, and other internal teams to ensure smooth communication on appropriate shows.
• Maintain constant and clear communication with individual artists to understand their needs, boost morale, and provide daily support.
• Act as the primary contact for artists and promptly identify when individuals require additional assistance.

• Strong Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent Communication Abilities: Proficient in both written and verbal communication, able to effectively liaise with team members and other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or previous experience in a VFX or film production environment, ideally in an assistant or coordination role.
• Relevant certifications or courses in project management, VFX software, or film production can be advantageous.
• A strong interest in film, visual effects, and the entertainment industry in general is advantageous.
