JOB DESCRIPTION
As a CG Generalist at Dupe you will be responsible for creating photo-real digital assets/environments to a high visual effects standard.
You should have a range of skills in 3D, including modelling, scene assemblies, texturing, lookdev and shading, layout, lighting, rendering and re-projection.
We will ask you to be creative, analytical and efficient in achieving the creative vision of our clients and VFX supervisors..
You should be keen to learn and share knowledge, playing your part in the team to produce great work in a positive environment. We want you to pay attention to both the aesthetics and the technical aspects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating models, textures, shading and look development setups
- Layout of assets, FX, animation and lights into a CG scene for rendering
- Troubleshooting technical issues with the CG scene and optimising the renders to work within the resources available
- Working to develop the look of a shot, assets or sequence with the Visual Effects and CG Supervisors
- Identifying the best approach for matching the quality of the plate photography
- Communicating with production on a regular basis in regards to schedules and deadlines
- Working in partnership with other departments to ensure that shots are delivered to the highest possible standard
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Previous experience working in a feature film or high end episodic VFX pipeline
- Knowledge of Houdini, Maya and Nuke
- Knowledge of a render engine
- Proven experience with modelling, UV layout, texturing, layout, lighting, rendering,.
- Strong understanding of the entire VFX process with experience of 3D and 2D workflows.
- Generalist background with a good balance between creative and technical skills
- Creative problem solving abilities with keen attention to detail
- Strong aesthetic skills in judging photo-realism, perspective and composition.
- Ability to deliver under pressure and be proactive with good organisational and communication skills
Desirable, but not essential:
- Working knowledge of Houdini, Zbrush, Photoshop, Solaris, Mari, Substance Painter, Arnold, Karma
- Experience working with shoot data including photographic and reference data, HDRIs, photogrammetry and Lidar
- Previous experience with Linux
- VFX scripting (python, vex, etc)

About the role
As a Mid & Senior Compositor at Dupe, you will combine live action, photographic and CG elements into a believable shot. We will ask you to be creative, analytical and efficient in achieving the creative vision of our clients and VFX supervisors. You should ideally be based in/around London or at least living in the UK, keen to learn and share knowledge, playing your part in the team to produce great work in a positive environment. We want you to pay attention to both the aesthetics and the technical aspects.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing your own work on a creative and technical level.
- Taking feedback from your supervisor in a positive and collaborative manner.
- 2D tracking, keying, colour matching, roto and paint.
- Working collaboratively across other departments to achieve the best result most efficiently.
- Demonstrating an understanding of lighting, photography and perspective.
- Managing your workload and being calm under deadlines.
Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years as a VFX professional using Nuke.
- Relevant degree/training course is a plus.
- Strong aesthetic skills in judging photo-realism, perspective and colour.
- Strong sense of composition, colour and design.
- Experience with Linux.
- Skills in Nuke expressions, gizmos and Python is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Resource Planning and Crewing:
- Manage studio/department schedules, aligning resource requirements with operational needs and project timelines, including the management of annual leave to ensure continuous project flow and capacity planning
- Effectively plan resources for optimal crewing across all projects, taking into account holiday schedules to maintain balance and avoid resource gaps.
- Work with tech to ensure resource planning and scaling of business.
Recruitment and Talent Management:
- Manage the recruitment process end-to-end, utilising the Loxo ATS system for effectiveness.
- Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions for talent outreach and event participation.
- Utilise social media platforms for talent sourcing, advertising, and brand promotion.
Employee Lifecycle Management:
- Handle all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, development, and offboarding processes.
- Develop career progression paths and robust performance measurement systems for employees.
- Lead initiatives to boost team morale and foster professional growth.
Employee Relations and Well-being:
- Take responsibility for Employee Relations issues, managing well-being, feedback status, goal statuses, and assessment progress.
- Focus on improving the Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) by enhancing employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Streamline HR processes to ensure efficiency and employee welfare.
Strategic HR and Operations Integration:
- Provide strategic HR guidance to the leadership team, aligning HR strategies with operational goals.
- Ensure resource planning is seamlessly integrated with operational strategies and project requirements.
- Maintain compliance with employment laws and best practices, with a focus on succession planning.

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in HR advanced degrees a plus.
- At least 5 years in recruitment and similar HR roles, especially in creative/VFX.
- Leadership skills with a strategic approach to HR and resource management.
- Expertise in using HR, ATS systems and leveraging social media for effective talent acquisition.
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at building relationships.
- Committed to sustainability and ethical business practices.
- Proficient in resource planning and adept at problem-solving.
