Inspired by an untold true British story.

Overview

Legends is a British crime drama television series written and created by Neil Forsyth and produced by his Tannadice Pictures production company. We were tasked with a range of tasks spanning across 6 episodes. This ranged from muzzle flashes, blood gore and DMP enhancements to a full North Sea simulation.

We worked on on poppy field shots where our 3D team created 5 - 10 hero poppy variants to scatter across the scenes. They developed a heatmap based approach to control distribution. Building denser clusters in areas where poppies would naturally thrive, then gradually feathering them out to create a more organic falloff. This technique also allowed us to intentionally clear pathways for sprites (greenscreen actors) to be integrated seamlessly into the environment.

One of the key technical challenges was creating a convincing turbulent North Sea and integrating it with bluescreen plates shot on a motion rig. We needed to match the movement of the simulated ocean closely to the on-set camera and rig motion, ensuring continuity between the footage and the cg environment. This was particularly important for shots set out in open water, where the actors and camera were intended to feel fully embedded in the middle of the North Sea.
